What is the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund is unrestricted financial support for current operations given each year by parents, alumni and friends of TCIS. The Annual Fund directly benefits the education and services TCIS provides to our students and also helps our relocation plans. A gift to the unrestricted Annual Fund allows the school more flexibility in directing funds to the most pressing needs of TCIS. The Annual Fund will be launched every school year. At TCIS, the Annual Fund was officially launched in the 2007-2008 school year on the occasion of the 50th Founding Anniversary.


Tuition - Plus

Recent data by the U.S. National Association of Independent Schools indicate that tuition and fees cover between 8% and 13% of the cost of education. At TCIS, tuition and fees account for nearly all, or 98% of TCIS operating budget! In order for TCIS to continue to develop as a leading international school within Korea and Asia, we need funding sources other than tuition. By giving to TCIS, you are helping to provide the best possible learning environment and an experience that will last a lifetime for all our students.


Frequently Asked Questions

1. What about designated giving?

Your donation to the unmarked Annual Fund allows the school the greatest flexibility in meeting current needs. But it is also possible to designate your giving. For example, you can donate to the TCIS Missionary Kids/Need-based Scholarships. Or you might want to consider capital giving as our relocation plan proceeds.

2. How much should I give?

We hope that you will be as generous as possible. In our first year, gifts have ranged anywhere between KRW 10,000 and KRW 25 million. Your participation every year is important. We hope to have 100% participation!

3. How do I give?

Cash or Check. Your gift can be made either in Korean won or in U.S. dollars. Please fill out the donation form and return it to the Development Office. For checks, please make it payable to “TCIS Annual Fund.”

4. Outright gift or Pledge

You may wish to make an outright gift with cash or check. Or you may prefer to make a pledge and pay by July 31, the closing of the Annual Fund every year. It is also possible to spread your giving on monthly basis over a period of time. Gifts such as securities, valuables, memorial gifts, planned giving or other types of donations are possible.

5. Tax benefits

Donations to TCIS are eligible for Korean tax deduction. The school is currently working toward U.S. deduction as well. Thank you for your generosity.
