The Blanchard Residence
Blanchard Dorm is the newest addition to the TCIS boarding program. It is a four story apartment building approximately a five minute walk from campus. It currently houses 14 high school boys and 4 middle school boys. Much work has been put into making this “home away from home”. There is a recreation room, a “family room”, and a room dedicated to quiet study. In addition, there is a dorm kitchen and laundry facility, a Wii game system, as well as a ping pong table on the roof.
Ed and Patty Blanchard are also the newest members of the TCIS boarding staff, arriving in August of 2009. They are the parents of six children, one of whom graduated from TCIS, (David), and one who also, with her husband, serve in the boarding program, (Matt and Amy Evans). Their oldest daughter, Heather, just completed eighteen months of teaching in Pusan, South Korea. Their three youngest children, John, (19), Daniel, (15), and Joshua, (13), live with them in Blanchard Dorm.
Ed and Patty bring to TCIS a depth of experience, beginning with their time as dorm parents at Montreat College, after graduation from Wheaton College. Prior to coming to TCIS, Patty was a Physician Assistant with Duke Medicine. She has also taught high school science and been involved in prenatal education. Ed has been a pastor for the past six years and has twenty years of experience in business management. In addition to her degrees in Bible and Christian Education, Patty has a BS degree from East Carolina and a Masters from Duke University. Ed has completed graduate classes at Wake Forest University and is ordained in the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
They enjoy working together to build a dorm family in Korea, and are excited about the opportunity to invest in the lives of students at TCIS.
