Interim Head of School

Mr. Michael Moimoi is serving as the Interim Head of School for the 2020-2021 school year as TCIS seeks to fill that position following the retirement of Dr. Thomas J. Penland.

Mr. Moimoi is a long-term administrator at TCIS. He first came to our school from New Zealand in 2005, having served as Principal in an independent Christian School. Here at TCIS, he served six years as Middle School Principal. When the TCIS middle and high schools merged into Secondary School, he served as an administrator over the combined group. Mr. Moimoi's two eldest children graduated from TCIS, enjoying the rigor of the IB program and the vigor of the spiritual community

Mr. Moimoi and his family returned home to New Zealand to help care for his elderly father. While there, he served at another Christian school as Head of Middle School. Mr. Moimoi recently accepted the invitation to return to TCIS to help transition Dr. Penland from Head of School into retirement, serving as Director of Student Affairs. As the school has been seeking a new Head of School to serve at TCIS, Mr. Moimoi was asked by the Board of Trustees and the TCIS community to serve as the Interim Head of School.

"My wife Jane and I feel privileged to be able to serve in the TCIS community and are excited about the growth and development of TCIS."

Mr. Moimoi received his Masters of Education in Administration from Lehigh University and has completed leadership training in both New Zealand and internationally with the Principal Training Centre. He has held administration and leadership roles in multiple schools with Christian and academic focus.
