No Instances of COVID-19 at TCIS
It appears there may be some mild confusion about the recent news of COVID-19 in a school within the city of Daejeon. It was announced on Sunday that a number of community members recently tested positive at an unlicensed Christian boarding school in Daejeon.
This is NOT Taejon Christian International School.
The school in question is an unauthorized, alternative school in South-central Daejeon. Periodically using an English acronym, it is sometimes known as TCS. At first glance, it appears similar to that used by our school [TCIS], but there is no connection between our schools and there are a number of foundational differences:
Taejon Christian International School has been in operation in Daejeon since 1958.
Taejon Christian International School is fully authorized by IB for K-12 instruction in the PYP, MYP, and DP programs.
Taejon Christian International School is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, USA.
Taejon Christian International School is fully licensed and authorized by the Ministry of Education as a foreign school [since 1999].
Taejon Christian International School is located in Techno Valley, to the North of Daejeon proper.
We operate in full compliance with ministry health and safety guidelines for COVID-19, in our academic and boarding programs, and we take this very seriously.
This incident highlights the difficult and worrying nature of COVID-19, and it serves to underline the need for diligence, cooperation, and compliance with best-practice measures. We send our prayers and best wishes to the IEM-TCS community as they deal with this in their community.
We also thank you for your support of our school, and we appreciate the both support and cooperation of our entire community as we follow the strictest measures to keep everyone safe.
