MK Dinner in Boarding Care
Dragon Drop Stories November 26, 2024
As an international school, we have many people from a wide variety of backgrounds. There are so many languages, places lived, home countries, and personal stories. One fascinating group in our Boarding Care Program is our "Missionary Kids" (MKs.) From many countries – Tajikistan, Indonesia, Pakistan, India, Kazakhstan, Tunisia and others; our MKs are a unique group of young people that hold a special place in our community.
Earlier in the year, each MK student was asked to share a special dish they missed from “home.” With help from local Daejeon restaurants, a mom's recipe, and a little online spice shopping), the Dorm Parents tracked down every dish.
Last week, our Boarding Care Givers surprised our MKs with their favorite meals from home. One by one, they revealed their dishes, savoring the flavors of home and the memories they invoked. Some shared their dishes right away, while others guarded their plates until they were full—then happily shared and sampled with friends. 😊
The room was filled with laughter, nostalgia, and even a few tears. There truly is nothing like a taste of home, and we feel so grateful to be part of these moments with our MK family.
