Dorm Spiritual Retreat
Dragon Drop Stories November 14, 2022
The TCIS Boarding Care Program recently held the annual "Dorm Spiritual Retreat" weekend!
The Dorm Spiritual Retreat (aka the DSR) is an optional event sponsored by the Boarding Care faculty, and supported by many of the academic faculty, to provide a unique opportunity for boarding students to better understand and grow in Christian faith.
This year's theme was "ABIDE," looking at what it means to live a life of faith that goes not from event to event but a constant faith-centered life. The weekend included sessions in which community members (faculty and students) shared their own faith experiences and understanding of faith issues. There were times for prayer and musical worship, and much time was also dedicated to quiet introspection and reflection.
Throughout this weekend event, students also enjoyed a lot of fun, socializing, and food! (And campfires... it appears we do a lot of campfires at TCIS, and we wouldn't have it any other way ^^)
It was a great weekend, with all involved coming away refreshed and challenged to consider matters of personal importance.
TCIS is, first and foremost, a school that stresses quality education and academic best practices. Alongside this, the school strives to provide opportunities for spiritual growth and discussion according to a Christian worldview. It is a foundational part of the school history, the community as it exists today, and it is a big part of the lives of many within our community.
While many of our students do not profess the Christian faith as their own, most everyone would agree that all benefit from our inclusive community built on love, peace, and respect as we all experience education here in this place.
Coming up later in November, we will also offer a similar optional retreat for day students living locally. It is one more way we approach holistic education with a mission that seeks to cultivate people who lead in purposeful change in this world – today and for the future.
