ES Ecology Field Trip
Dragon Drop Stories April 14, 2023
During the recent Spring Break, TCIS sent three international teams of Middle and High School students to serve in locations around Asia. These trips are some of the most life-changing and memorable for students, and they are a prime example of efforts to "cultivate internationally-minded learners who lead in purposeful change."
Today, we will highlight the second of these three teams – those who traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Our partnership with Grace Home is one of the oldest for service and cultural exchange. It was in the mid-90s that our school Chaplain and Student Life Minister met Reverend Samsung Kwon and his wife – Korean missionaries doing good work and caring work in Thailand.
The children at Grace Home are some of the loveliest young people you would ever meet. They are clever, confident, talented, and so hospitable to our visiting teams. Our students love going year after year and connecting with these wonderful friends.
TCIS teams spend the week with the children and workers at the Grace Home – spending time, engaging together in projects and activities, helping with daily life tasks, learning about the people, and experiencing the culture.
As we've said, the Chiang Mai trip is the longest-running LASA trip at TCIS. For many of our alumni now living around the world, the Grace Home still holds a special place in their hearts. It is a place where they spent many hours of laughter, tears, reflection, cultural exchange, serving, playing, and building friendships – learning, loving, and leading.
