Growing Through the IB Primary Years Programme

TCIS Elementary School is part of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. The PYP helps students learn through inquiry, exploration, and reflection.

Rather than learning subjects as isolated pieces, students make connections across language, math, science, social studies, arts, physical education, and personal development. They ask questions, investigate ideas, share their thinking, and begin to understand how learning connects to real life.

The PYP helps children become active learners who are curious, thoughtful, and increasingly independent.
 

Building Strong Academic Skills

Elementary students at TCIS build essential skills in reading, writing, mathematics, communication, research, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. These foundations prepare students for future success in middle school, high school, and beyond.

TCIS welcomes students from many backgrounds and language experiences. In an English-speaking international school environment, students grow in communication through classroom learning, relationships, routines, and daily school life.

Students who are developing English are supported as they build confidence using language for learning, friendship, creativity, and self-expression. Teachers help students participate meaningfully while continuing to grow in academic understanding and communication skills.

In this international community, children learn to appreciate different cultures, perspectives, and ways of seeing the world.

Preparing for Middle School and Beyond

Elementary school at TCIS is connected to the larger K–12 learning journey. As students move through the elementary years, they build the habits and confidence needed for middle school and the continued IB pathway.

Students learn to take responsibility, communicate clearly, work with others, reflect on their growth, and approach new challenges with curiosity. By the time they enter middle school, students are better prepared academically, socially, and personally for the next stage of learning.
