Pastoral Care

Supporting the Whole Student — Heart, Mind, and Spirit
At Taejon Christian International School, pastoral care is at the heart of our holistic approach to education. We believe that students thrive when they feel known, safe, and supported — not only academically, but also socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Our pastoral care system is intentionally designed to nurture the. whole child, equipping them to grow in resilience, character, and confidence as they navigate life and learning.
From Kindergarten through Grade 12, students are surrounded by a caring network of teachers, counselors, advisors, and boarding staff who are committed to their well-being. Daily routines, one-on-one guidance, and community-building experiences ensure that each student has a place where they belong and trusted adults they can turn to.
Pastoral care at TCIS is grounded in our mission to Learn • Love • Lead. That means helping students develop healthy relationships, make wise choices, explore questions of identity and purpose, and grow into compassionate leaders — all within a community of grace and mutual respect. Whether through chapel services, advisory programs, or dorm life, we foster an environment where students feel both challenged and cared for.
Ultimately, our goal is simple: to support each student as a whole person — and to walk alongside them as they become the people they were created to be.

The Role of the School Counselor
At TCIS, our school counselors play an essential role in supporting the whole student. As trusted advocates, they walk alongside students through every stage of their journey—guiding their personal, social, emotional, academic, and spiritual growth.
Counselors meet with students individually, provide classroom guidance sessions, and offer developmentally and culturally appropriate support. They help students navigate challenges, build healthy relationships, and develop self-awareness, while also supporting their academic planning and future goals—including university and career pathways.
Working in close collaboration with teachers, administrators, and parents, our counselors help ensure that every student is known, cared for, and empowered to thrive. Their ultimate goal is to help students discover who they are—and who they’re becoming—so they can lead lives of purpose and direction.
