Welcome to TCIS

We are a K-12 international boarding school located in Daejeon, South Korea. We have a real desire to see children educated in ways that bring not only success in their goals but also balance and passion to their lives.

As a Three-Programme IB World School, we educate children to be curious, creative, resourceful, discerning, globally-minded, and knowledgeable. As a school with a Christian worldview, we guide children according to principles of respect, peace, service, and love. Our mission for high academic quality, combined with our Christian ethos, leads us to cultivate students who have the skills to succeed and the hearts to change the world for the betterment of humankind.

Educational Best Practice

With forward-thinking toward career readiness and educational best practice, teachers guide students through a continuous program of discovery and critical thinking:

  • A rich and varied activities program offers students of all ages a chance to explore new realms of engagement. There are many opportunities for students to exercise their classroom knowledge in areas of athletics, visual arts, music, theatre, student government, faith-based activities, service and academic clubs, and student government.
  • The Design Cycle is a process that permeates all that is done at TCIS. It becomes second nature that students will define problems, collect information, establish comprehensive plans, create quality products, evaluate outcomes, and re-enter the cycle with aims to adapt and improve.
  • The Theory of Knowledge program teaches students about perspectives, approaches, veracity, and philosophy of human learning. This puts students in a position to become discerning lifelong learners who are equipped to take responsibility for their education, now and in the future.

Preparation for University

Students who go through the academic programs at TCIS are well prepared for universities all around the world. TCIS is authorized by the IB and accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools & Colleges, USA). As such, a TCIS transcript is respected and recognized by quality institutions anywhere in the world. Every year, our graduates are accepted to some of the top universities in the US, Canada, the UK, Asia and Continental Europe. [2020 Acceptances List]

On-campus Boarding

Students come to our academic community from all over Korea, Asia, and the world, and here they find a loving home away from home. The entire program is built around the idea of growth: providing academic support and creating the kind of home environment that makes them feel safe and happy. This focus on growth gently permeates all that we do, and children develop patterns and attitudes of responsibilty, confidence, peace, balance, social awareness, and caring.

Our boarding alumni often visit and recall their boarding experiences as some of the happiest and most life-changing of their school years. Their experiences have helped to gently create a sense of self, belonging, responsibility, and love. [Boarding Program Overview]
